Cans become art! ‘Canstruction’ fundraiser returns to Jackson Sept. 26
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Regional Inter-Faith Association prepares for one of their biggest fundraisers of the year. ‘Canstruction 2024’ is on the way!
This signature event will take place on Thursday, September 26, at 6 p.m. at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.
Participants have the opportunity to compete with one another or in a group by building sculptures completely out of cans.
They will be judged on their work and awards will be presented.
Comedian Mike Goodwin also known as ‘The Guy With the Bowtie’ will be the entertainment for the evening.
All of the food at the end of the night will be taken back to RIFA and distributed to those in need.
Director of Development Denice Walton says that she’s so excited for the event this year.
“Gathering for the awards and then the meal, but then just to have that one other thing and that’s a special spark for us as well, so we’re excited about Mike Goodwin being with us. Of course, at the end of the night, all of the canned food items come back to RIFA and again, we turn right around and use those to feed our friends and neighbors right here in Jackson where we all live, work and worship,” said Walton.
