Authorities arrest two suspects involved in ‘large drug ring’

On 9-6-2024, 24th Judicial District Drug Task Force Agents arrested two major suspects who were involved in a “large drug ring” in Henry County. Drug Task Force Agents along with Henry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, Henry County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Puryear Police Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol, executed search warrants at the homes of Yevette Somerville and Laquan McFerren. Both were arrested on active warrants for felony drug charges for Sale & Delivery of a Schedule II Controlled substance, being Fentanyl. During the execution of the search warrants, patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on Laquan McFerren near his home on Dudley Street. McFerren was arrested and was also in possession of numerous blue m30 pills that tested positive for Fentanyl. McFerren was taken into custody and his vehicle was seized.

During the year long drug investigation, Drug Task Force Agents conducted multiple controlled narcotics buys on both McFerren and Somerville. Most of the controlled buys took place in a school zone in Henry County which enhances the penalty. Drug Task Force Agents have determined that McFerren and Somerville are responsible for bringing in and supplying large amounts of Fentanyl and conducting this drug activity near a school. Both were booked into the Henry County Jail. McFerren is currently under a one million dollar bond and Yevette Somerville is currently under a five million dollar bond.

24th Judicial Drug Task Force Agents have also connected several other suspects involved with selling and distributing the dangerous drug Fentanyl during this long- term investigation. 24th Judicial Drug Task Force Agents have active cases on those individuals connected to Somerville and McFerren and the suspects will be indicted on felony charges of Conspiracy. 24th Judicial Drug Task Force Agents have confirmed that the Fentanyl laced drugs are responsible for numerous deaths and overdoses in both Henry County and the surrounding counties. Drug Task Force Agents encourage anyone who has information to come forward to assist agents in the prosecution of these cases.
