Fire destroys Milan home, family displaced

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE MILAN FIRE DEPARTMENT:

546 Gann Rd.
Milan, Tennessee 38358

On Monday September 9, 2024 at approximately 1:49 PM Milan Fire Department along with the Gibson County Fire Department were dispatched to a house fire at 546 Gann Rd. Upon arrival, firefighters found the structure to be well involved. Firefighters were advised that there were no people or pets still inside the home. Firefighters initiated a fire attack using handlines and later using a deck gun. Crews were able to successfully extinguish the fire. One juvenile was assessed by EMS crews on the scene as a precaution.

There were no injuries to any residents or firefighters at the incident. The damage estimates were not available at the time of the press release. Due to the extensive damage to the home, all the residents were displaced, and the American Red Cross is assisting them.

The Milan Fire Department and the Gibson County Fire Department would like to remind everyone that working smoke alarms save lives. They should be tested monthly and be less than 10 years old.
