West TN AgResearch and Education Center hosts Cotton Tour Field Day
JACKSON, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture held their annual ‘Cotton Tour Field Day’ Wednesday morning.
Hosted at the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center, the event featured field presentations and guided tours of on-site research plots.
Attendees were given essential information on cotton production in Tennessee. Topics included variety testing, irrigation, nutrient management, and more.
“With harvest time coming up, we talked about defoliation so we have to defoliate the leaves and get the bowls to open in the cotton plant so they touch on that. They also touch on anything agronomic that happened throughout the year,” said Daniel Wiggins, agriculture and natural resource agent.
Attendees also received certified crop adviser and pesticide recertification points and a complimentary lunch.
