Selmer alderman faces potential assault charge following recent town meeting
SELMER, Tenn. — A regular meeting gets a little heated in the city of Selmer and it results with the police being called.

On Wednesday, September 11, Selmer’s mayor and aldermen board met for a regular meeting. What started off as a discussion between Alderman Mike Cain and Alderman Lashell Moore quickly turned into frustration.
Video footage on the Town of Selmer’s Facebook page from the meeting has been viewed over 9,000 times.
According to the live, the argument started when a question was brought to the table of whether or not the Town of Selmer charter had been broken by members of the board.
When Alderwoman Moore stated that Alderman Cain had broken the charter, that’s when the touching began. We were told that Moore allegedly filed a police report on Cain and that he was charged with assault.
We reached out to the McNairy Justice Complex who told us that Cain has a criminal summons where he has to turn himself in within the next 10 days. We also reached out to the mayor, Alderwoman Moore, Alderman Cain and the Selmer Police Department who have yet to respond.
