1943 – 2024

Mary Alice Parkinson Barker, age 81, resident of Somerville, Tennessee
and wife of the late Leslie Gage “Les” Barker, Sr., departed this life
Thursday morning, September 12, 2024 at her home.
Mary was born May 6, 1943 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, the daughter of
the late James Miles Parkinson and Mary Alice Trescott Parkinson. She
grew up in Huntington Milles and Shickshinny, Pennsylvania and was a
homemaker throughout her life. Mary was most recently a resident of
Somerville and enjoyed crafting and her ceramic shop. She loved
gardening, bee farming and her dogs.
Mrs. Barker is survived by her daughter, Janice Davis (Mike); her son,
Eddie Anderson; two stepdaughters, Mary Davis and Dorothy Williams; her
stepson, Leslie Barker, Jr.; and several grandchildren and great-
grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her
stepson, Charles Barker; three brothers, Bill Parkinson, Marvin “Pip”
Parkinson and Edward Paul Parkinson; and her grandson, Steven Davis.
A visitation for Mrs. Barker will be from 11 A.M. to 12 noon Monday,
September 16, 2024 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville.
Funeral Services will be at 12 noon Monday, September 16, 2024 at the
Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Kevin Treadway
officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in the District 15
Community of Fayette County.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be George Williams, Matthew
Davis, Glen Morman and Mike Davis.
