Rain Likely Both Days this Weekend! Drying Out Early Next Week!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

Training rain showers have dumped up to 7″ of rain in central McNairy county over the last 48 hours. South Madison county has also seen a lot of rain. Our neighbors in Hardin County are going to pick up most of their rain on Saturday! Rain will stick around for most of us on Saturday and continue on Sunday. We should dry out as we kick off next week. Although it was a soggy night at the fair and for football games tonight, most of West Tennessee needed the rain due to the drought. As of now, next weekend looks a lot nicer, but we will see! Catch the full forecast right here.

THIS WEEK:

After dropping to 50s earlier in the week, we saw one last warmer day on Wednesday. Warmer mornings are also on the way but afternoon temperatures will be cool under the thick clouds starting Thursday.  The winds were gusty Thursday night before calming down on Friday. Skies will be cloudy tonight and stay that way through the weekend for most of West Tennessee. We may not see much of the sun for 2-3 more days in a row.

The heavy rain and gusty winds on Thursday and will continue tonight in the rain department. The rainy weather will continue all day Friday but will try to break up some into the day on Sunday. The timing of when the storm will move out is the trickiest part of the forecast as of now. A widespread 1-3″ additional rain looks to be coming for all of us through Monday morning. There will likely be some areas seeing higher amounts as well. The winds will be light though for the remainder of the weekend.

A flood watch remains in effect until Saturday morning for our eastern counties. That is where we will likely see the highest amounts of rain. Jackson is right on the edge of the flood watch. The watch could be extended later into the weekend for some of us as well.

THE WEEKEND:

Rain showers will likely be sticking around for the start of the weekend but will either clear out Saturday afternoon or maybe not until Sunday morning. Clouds will stick around most of the weekend as well and some sunshine may try to return on Sunday but the clouds could stick around most of the weekend. Highs will reach the upper 70s this weekend and morning lows will hang around in the low to mid 60s. If you have weekend plans, Sunday looks nicer than Saturday as of now for outdoor activities but both days expect rain showers.
