State lawmakers announce $392K for improvements at Cypress Grove Nature Park in Jackson
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Chris Todd, R-Madison County, and State Sen. Ed Jackson, R-Jackson, today announced that a $392,000 grant will be used for boardwalk and parking improvements at Cypress Grove Nature Park in Jackson.
The funding is part of $2.6 million in grants from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s (TDEC) Recreational Trails Program that were awarded to eight communities across the state.
“The Cypress Grove Nature Park is a wonderful asset to our community that offers incredible opportunities for residents to connect with the natural world around us,” Todd said. “This grant will ensure the park is accessible for every visitor to enjoy. I congratulate the city on receiving these funds and look forward to the positive impact these improvements will have for future generations.”
The project will include the replacement of approximately 1,300 linear feet of boardwalk along with accessible parking and other parking lot improvements.
“I am very pleased TDEC is providing state funds to improve the boardwalk at Cypress Grove and make it more accessible to citizens,” Jackson said. “This nature park is a major part of the community in Jackson, and I’m glad our state and community are prioritizing the quality of this park. Congratulations to the local officials for submitting a successful grant application to secure these funds.”
The Recreational Trails Program provides federal funding to match local government investments for land acquisition for trails, non-routine trail maintenance, trail construction, trail rehabilitation and trailhead support facilities.
