Woman convicted of assault against correctional officer sentenced to prison

PRESS RELEASE FROM DISTRICT ATTORNEY GENERAL FREDERICK H. AGEE:

Today, Gibson County Circuit Court Judge Clayburn Peeples sentenced defendant, Nicole Cornforth, to serve five years in a Tennessee Department of Correction prison.

Ms. Cornforth is a Range 1 offender and was facing a maximum sentence of up to six years after being convicted by jury trial on June 18, 2024, of attempted voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault on a correctional officer.

Although we requested the maximum sentence of 6 years, we respect the Court’s to decision. I’m proud of the efficient way our office prosecuted this case. We hope and pray that the Victim can find peace and move forward with her life.
