Jury finds man guilty following ‘violent attack’ of female victim

PRESS RELEASE FROM DISTRICT ATTORNEY GENERAL FREDERICK H. AGEE:

Corderro Lee Found Guilty by Jury of Assault

On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, a jury in the Humboldt Law Court for Gibson County found defendant, Corderro Lee, guilty of Assault. On August 27, 2023, Lee was originally charged by the Humboldt Police Department with Aggravated Assault for a violent attack against a female victim, who suffered a broken orbital bone that left permanent scarring.

“We want to thank the victim for seeing this case through to its conclusion. We are also thankful for the twelve citizens who served on this jury, and we respect their decision. We sought the felony conviction not only due to his violent actions which caused serious bodily injury, but also because of his prior convictions for Domestic Assault, Assault, and Theft. Due to specific evidentiary rules, the jury was not allowed to learn about his prior convictions. Tennessee is in the top ten in the Country for women killed by men, and we consider this terrible statistic in prosecuting these types of cases.”

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jacob London and Scott Kirk.

Lee will be sentenced on December 9, 2024, by the Honorable Clayburn Peeples and is facing up to 11 months and 29 days in the Gibson County Jail.
