Local nonprofit prepares to host ‘Taste of Congo’ event
JACKSON, Tenn. — For more than 10 years, Motema Ministries has sought to help people in the Congo find a source of income.
On October 12, at West Baptist Church from 5 to 7 p.m., the ministry will host Taste of Congo, an event filled with fashion and music.
Motema Ministries, which began in 2009, also gives free sewing classes to students in hopes that they’ll use it throughout their life and pass it on to other family members.
Mulata Moba says she’s been in the states for 10 years and wanted to find a way to give back to her country.
“Then, when the funds are available, we can give them sewing machines and that is just like them becoming entrepreneurs. 731-402-0452, they can call that number to reserve or to buy a ticket,” said Moba.
The ticket price for the event is $35, you also have the option to reserve a table for $250 that seats 8 people.
