Local Hub City students recognized for academic excellence

JACKSON, Tenn. — Some outstanding students here in Jackson are being recognized for their academic excellence.

The names of more than 16,000 semifinalist in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship program have been sent to high school principals across the country. Four of those names come from right here in the Hub City.

From Madison Academic High School: Colson Bailey, Harrison Kayal, and Micah Upton. One student from Trinity Christian Academy, Mary Shaw, is also recognized.

Based on their preliminary SAT performances, these students represent the top academic achievers from each state.

Semi-finalist are being recognized based on a state representational system.
