City of Jackson hosts celebration in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Hub City is celebrating its rich culture and diversity.
Friday night, the City of Jackson hosted its Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at city hall. At the event, there were dance performances with local students showcasing their talents.
This year’s theme was “Pioneers of Change, Shaping the Future Together.”
The City of Jackson will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15.
During that time, local Hispanic artwork will be on display in the lobby of city hall.
“A brief message to all the youth out there, Hispanic, Latino and any other youth out there, how where in Jackson you belong. We are here to fight for you, we are here to fight for you, we are here to support you, and your education and your art and your music. You belong here and take that to every place that you go,” said Elvia Trejo, neighborhood specialist for the City of Jackson.
In the future, organizers hope to make this celebration each Friday of Latino and Hispanic Heritage Month.
