Memorial service remembers veteran prisoners of war, those missing in action

JACKSON, Tenn. — A memorial service was held this Friday at the Madison County Courthouse.

The ceremony was to remember prisoners of war and those missing in action.

Madison County Mayor AJ Massey and Jackson City Mayor Scott Conger signed into proclamation POW and MIA Day, which is recognized in Madison County as well as all over the United States.

This memorial ceremony was made possible by Mayor Massey’s administrative assistant Regetta Nelson.

“I love my veterans and I try to support my veterans whenever I can,” said Nelson.

“Letting those folks throughout West Tennessee, and Madison County particularly, to know that they are remembered and they are loved and that they are thought of as well as it’s a great event to have our veteran community come out and join us on the courthouse lawn and we always enjoy that,” said Mayor Massey.

The Chair of Honor was also explained as it symbolizes those who never returned.
