Weekend preview: Events happening across West Tennessee
JACKSON, Tenn. — Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Maybe a festival, perusing antiques or listening to music outdoors? All of that is happening this weekend!
The entire family can take part in the Decaturville Main Street Festival beginning Friday at 7 p.m. with music on the square. The opening ceremony for the festival will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday. There will be a petting zoo for the kids, a cruise-in for the adults and much more.
On Saturday, stop by the Antique Tractor Show at the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center. This event is presented by the Farmers Antique Tractor Club of Brownsville.
“Antique tractors that people have restored and have running and use them. Just bring them to the show and we’ll line them up and display them,” said Darrell Thomas, president of the Farmers Antique Tractor Club.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., so shine up your nostalgia on wheels and show it off to others who have the same interests. Who knows, you might even walk away with a new prize for your old tractor.
“First, second, third place and some smaller awards, fence row awards, oldest tractor award, garden tractor award. There’s about 6-7 trophies that will be given out,” said Thomas.
Also happening this weekend is the McNairy County Stampede for St. Jude Rodeo at the Ag Event Center in Selmer.
“Bull riding, barrel racing, rough stock, roping, all of these things that you think of when you think of rodeo, even a rodeo clown or two,” said Russell Ingle, McNairy County director of tourism and marketing.
The fun begins at 6 p.m., with the rodeo kicking off at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door, and kids 12 and under get in free.
Right here in the Hub City you take the kids to enjoy an outdoor movie at Liberty Gardens Park Saturday night. The film, “Wish” will be showing at 7:00.
And for the wine and music lovers out there, check out Century Farms Winery’s Voices in the Vineyard concert featuring the Dirt Pilgrims on Saturday.
Live music will be from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. and organizers say whether you’re a long-time fan or new to the winery, this is something you don’t want to miss.
