Chances For Rain Mid-Week On The Rise, Marginal Risk Monday Night

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

Over the course of the last 24 hours, the chances for rain in the middle of the coming week have gone up. Also, we have an update on Monday night’s severe weather risk. We’ll give you all the details right here.

Monday Night:

Storms look to move into West Tennessee around 10:30 P.M. and will linger through the area until around 5:00 A.M. Fortunately, there is no real tornado threat with this system. Primary concerns will be strong winds and marginally severe hail. Again, this is only a marginal risk, so the odds of any storm having either strong winds or damaging hail is only 5%. A slight adjustment has been made to the risk area. It has been expanded more to the southeast. Jackson is on the edge of the risk area for this event.

Monday Severe

Tuesday:

There is a 70% chance of showers lingering through Tuesday in West Tennessee. Coverage will lessen throughout the course of the day but some of us could be dealing with rain all day. Highs will be in the low 80s with high humidity. The low will be in the mid 60s. A cold front will be passing behind the rain so cooler temperatures are on the horizon.

Wed.-Thur.:

Lingering showers will hover over West Tennessee as more moisture moves into the region ahead of a possible tropical system moving into the area late next week. These showers will be light, but possibly widespread. It won’t be enough to rain out any plans outdoors, but you’ll probably want to keep the umbrella handy.

Friday-Next Weekend:

A low pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico has the potential to impact West Tennessee with another round of heavy rain coming into next weekend. Though, latest forecast trends have been moving the system farther and farther east. Landfall looks to be east of New Orleans, with most models sending it to the Big Bend of Florida.
