Pinson Mounds’ Archeofest brings another weekend of vibrant culture

PINSON, Tenn. — Last week marked the 42nd year of the Pinson Mounds Archeofest.

They wrapped up the last day festivities of vibrant culture on Sunday.

Over 13 indigenous tribes were represented for their heritage.

Pinson Mounds is also celebrating 50 years as a Tennessee State Park.

Featured performances ranged from the West Tennessee Choctaw social dances, Garland Hurt music, wagon rides, and birds of prey shows.

“There’s something for everybody,” said park ranger Tim Boole. “It’s a spotlight on indigenous culture, with a little bit of archeology along the way as well.”

They are proud to be officially recognized as a State Archaeological Park.
