Adele Vickers “Vicki” Stedman Pope
Vicki was born on September 29, 1953 to Thomas “Tom” Sidney Stedman and Frances Nadine Burchett in Jackson, TN. She graduated from Jackson High School and attended college at Vanderbilt University before moving back to Jackson. Vicki married Jerol Pope in 1974 and had a daughter, Ashley Stedman Pope in April of 1980.
Vicki worked for her father at C & W Construction Company for many years until his retirement, and then found her next career home as a Financial Secretary for First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, TN. Her FPC family meant so much to her throughout her career there, and she spent many years being involved in various programs, camps, and events. Vicki was a vibrant spirit in many ways including being an avid reader and traveler, a long-standing member of Mensa, and an advocate for the less fortunate who would cross the path at FPC. Vicki had a special ability to make anyone and everyone feel special and loved and would brighten any room she entered. She celebrated her retirement from FPC in March of 2019 after 27 amazing years of service.
Vicki is survived by her daughter, Ashley Stedman Pope; her loving partner of the most recent 25 years, Paul Jacobson; her sister, Frances Anne Stedman Turner and family; and various nieces, nephews, and cousins.
As a remembrance and celebration of this special soul, a service to honor Vicki’s life will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 1573 North Highland. Family, friends, and other’s who Vicki’s life has touched will are invited to attend and the family would welcome anyone who would like to offer brief words or stories to honor Vicki.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be directed to Regional Inter-Faith Association (RIFA), 133 Airways Blvd, Jackson, TN 38301 or at rifajackson.org.
