Fire destroys home in Milan

House Fire
2069 Short Anderson St.
Milan, Tennessee 38358
On Tuesday September 24, 2024 at approximately 11:19 AM, the Milan Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 2069 Short Anderson St. Upon arrival, firefighters found the structure to be well involved. Firefighters were advised that there were no people or pets still inside the home. Firefighters initiated a fire attack using handlines and a deck gun. Crews were able to successfully extinguish the fire. Mutual aid assistance was received from Gibson County, Medina, and Humboldt Fire Departments.
There were no injuries to any residents or firefighters at the incident. The residents were alerted to the fire by their smoke detectors. The damage estimates were not available at the time of the press release. Due to the extensive damage to the home, all the residents were displaced, and the American Red Cross is assisting them.
The Milan Fire Department would like to remind everyone that working smoke alarms save lives. They should be tested monthly and be less than 10 years old.
