Haunted attractions prepare for scares in West Tennessee

CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. — It’s spooky season here in West Tennessee and we have details on some attractions you can visit.

We’re starting off at the War Zone Haunted Laser Tag and Haunted House in McKenzie, and look, my intention is for them to go one way and I’ll go another  — at least that’s the hope. I mean it says “help us” and “do not enter.”

“We’re going to be doing a haunted house in the month of October. It’ll be every weekend, Fridays 7 p.m. to midnight,” said owner Mark Bowlin. “During the week, we’re also going to offer a haunted laser tag, which is by reservation only, and that entails the haunted house aspect but with a laser tag twist.”

I was a little unprepared in the beginning, but I got my ammunition, I’m lock and loaded and I’m ready for war. It could be around any of these corners — and I’m not taking any chances.

Just 17 minutes away takes you to another haunted attraction in West Tennessee that ranks 5th best in the state, out of more than 70 other haunts in Tennessee.

This year marks the 14th anniversary for The 13th Realm.

If you ever thought about what’s worse than haunted laser tag, then you have not walked the thin line between fear and fate here at The 13th Realm in Atwood.

“We like to ramp up the scares here,” said owner Dale Nelson. “We are no-touch facility, so we don’t do any thing like that, but we like to bring the intensity for sure.”

A little head soup maybe… I don’t know. We’re just going to chill out, alright, we’re going to chill out!

“People can always expect new stuff from us,” Nelson added. “We’re always innovative. We like to come up with new scares every year, new ways to bring the thrill and the excitement to the attraction. We always want to be on the forefront of the innovations in this industry.”

The 13th Realm has more than 100 crew members that play a role in bringing this attraction to life.

They also offer a charity VIP package that you can purchase upon arrival, and all proceeds go to St. Jude. This includes 4 VIP passes and a private tour.
