Local rotary club holds ‘Community Connections’ event
JACKSON, Tenn. — One local organization comes together to help the local community.
The Old Hickory Rotary Club of Jackson held a networking-focused event Monday evening called “Community Connections: Empowering Through Education” at the UT-Martin Jackson Center.
The event featured speeches from UT-Martin and Jackson State Community College leaders, focusing on the theme of basic education and literacy.
“The month of September, in rotary, is Basic Education and Literacy Month. We’ve had speakers from Lane College, the University of Memphis Lambuth campus. We’ve had speakers from Jackson State as well as Dr. King from Jackson-Madison County School System,” said Clint Beilke, president of the Old Hickory Rotary Club of Jackson.
Organizers say this event is part of the club’s ongoing commitment to promoting education and community development.
