Nonprofit visits Chester County school to raise awareness on violence prevention
HENDERSON, Tenn. — Leaders of one organization spoke at Chester County Junior High School on Monday.
Rachel’s Challenge is a national nonprofit dedicated to promoting compassion and preventing youth violence in schools.
Rachel Scott, was the first victim of the Columbine High School shooting and her family started the nonprofit after her death. The program has since become the most extensive youth violence prevention school program in the world.
“What we’re hoping to do everywhere we go is to spread this message that every person can do one small act of kindness to make a difference in the lives of other people,” said Meichelle Gibson, Rachel’s Challenge representative.
The program has made a significant impact, averting nine school shootings, preventing hundreds of youth suicides annually, and reaching over 30 million students, educators, and parents.
