‘Out of the Darkness Walk’ to be held in Jackson October 26
JACKSON, Tenn. — As Suicide Prevention Awareness Month comes to a close, one popular walk approaches.
The West Tennessee ‘Out of the Darkness Walk’ is set for October 26. The walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.
The walk is also a fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
“It’ll be here on the Jackson State Community College campus and we’re gonna walk a mile to connect with the survivors and also raise funds and bring awareness about suicide prevention,” said Carol Rothstein, president of JSCC.
Anyone struggling with a mental health emergency can call the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 9-8-8.
