JMCSS students visit local factories for annual Manufacturing Day

JACKSON, Tenn. — Manufacturing Day is manufacturing’s biggest annual opportunity to inspire the next generation to start careers in modern manufacturing through a series of focused events to promote manufacturing to students. Manufacturing day for Jackson is this Thursday and Friday.

Over 100 high school students from JMCSS will visit different industries to learn about manufacturing.

Thursday, we spoke with a Toyota representative and Greater Jackson Chamber representative to learn about Manufacturing Day and modern manufacturing.

“Here in Jackson, with Toyota Motors and various others, they are always hiring with really strong wages and it’s a great opportunity for students to see that you don’t have to go to four years, that’s an option,” said Logan McCoy, vice president of existing industry and workforce for the Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce.

These high school students will get the chance to visit about 15 manufacturing plants between Thursday and Friday.
