Milan police taking donations for annual winter coat drive
MILAN, Tenn. — Preparing for cold weather! The Milan Police Department is still accepting applications for ‘Coats for Kids.’
This is the 9th year of this event which gathers donations and money to buy coats, gloves, scarfs and toboggans for area kids in need. Applications can be picked up at the Milan Police Department and the deadline to turn in an application is October 15 by 3 p.m.
Around 85 to 90 kids a year benefit from Coats for Kids, with most donations collected at the Milan Police Department lobby.
“You know it’s something that a lot of us take for granted, not having a coat in the winter while you’re standing out at the school bus stop fixing to go to school in the morning, and not have a coat so we’re just trying to do our little part to help our town,” said MPD Chief Bobby Sellers.
Chief Sellers went on to thank his employees, citizens and everyone who makes this event possible.
