Questions remain about several crimes this year in Jackson

UPDATE (10/9/24): Suspect in custody, facing murder charge for fatal shooting in south Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — Over the past few months, we have been to the scene of multiple crimes in Jackson. During those instances, we told you all of the information we had confirmed at the time.

On September 25, we received a call regarding a large police presence at Hardee Street and O’Neal street. According to a press release from the Jackson Police Department, a female was found with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg.police

 

On September 19, the Jackson Police Department began investigating a shooting near the intersection of Grove Avenue and Susan Cove. Ryan Mills was found with gunshot wounds, he was sent to a hospital to be treated where he later died. A male was seen leaving the area and was later found with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot. He was taken into custody.

September 10, we were informed of a large police presence on North Royal Street. Neighbors said they saw someone being loaded onto a stretcher. The Jackson Police Department confirmed there was a shooting, but had no further details to share.

On September 3, according to officers on scene with the Jackson Police Department, a shooting occurred outside of a home on Commanche Trail. They discovered a male with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital.

On August 21, we were notified of a police presence on Lockwood Drive. Officers were spotted coming out of the woods with K9s. One neighbor said they saw someone leap from a car and run into the woods.

We contacted JPD requesting updates on these cases, as well as many others. At this time, we have not received a detailed response, but we will provide an update when additional information becomes available.
