The weather will be great for football tonight. We could be down to around 60° in the 4th quarter so maybe grab a hoodie or sweatshirt. We have not recorded a drop of rain in October and have been above normal every day so far this month in West Tennessee as well. Things are going to change though into next week.  The next front is going to bring the coldest weather this fall and likely our first 30s for most of us. It could also lead to our first frost in some areas. On an average year we see our first frost in the middle of October so it wouldn’t be a shock for it to happen. We will keep you posted over the next several days as the front gets closer. Catch your warm weekend forecast and more on the front coming next week right here.

THIS WEEK:

After making it up to around 90° last weekend, Monday we were back down to around normal for this time of the year. A cold front came racing through last Sunday night and dropped highs from the low 90s to the mid 70s for most of us. The next front will also be coming this Sunday night but it will drop temperatures even lowers into the 60s for highs and 30s for morning lows. Each front as we get deeper into fall will likely drop temperatures a little bit more from the previous front.

The winds were out of the north or northeast for the entire work week. That kept the humidity down and kept the clouds away and prevented any rain from showing up this week. We may not see much at all for clouds until later into the weekend. Temperatures slowly climb each day this week and could reach the upper 80s on Sunday before the front passes Sunday night. Highs reached the upper 70s to near 80° on Tuesday and Wednesday. We warmed back up into the low 80s on Thursday and will again on Friday. Friday night football looks like it is going to be great again this week across the entire Mid-South.

THE WEEKEND:

The warm up will continue into the weekend for us in West Tennessee. Like the previous weekend, we should see mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 80s in general. We should fall just short of record highs again. The record high on Sunday is 91°. Also like last weekend, it appears a cold front will be coming late Sunday night, dropping temperatures again into next week. The front could bring a shower or two Monday, but as of now, we are not expecting much with rain chances somewhere around 5-10%.

The winds will come out of the southwest this weekend and that could bring a few more clouds, but we are still expecting more sun than clouds this weekend. Very little if any rain is forecast from this front as it appears to be another dry front. We have not recorded any rain in October and most of us likely will not for at least the first 2-3 weeks of the month. The front will bring in the coldest weather though this fall. Lows could fall to the low 40s or upper 30s  and highs will only reach the 60s to kick off next week. So far, frost doesn’t appear to be likely but it cannot be ruled out, especially in our northern counties. Our first frost is usually around the middle of October so I am sure it is coming sooner rather than later.
