Benton County Dispatch Report: October 4-10
BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. — The following are full dispatch reports from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, October 4-October 10.
Friday, October 4
Holladay/ Sugar Tree Area
- Deputy responded to a theft not in progress call from a manager at a store. Manager advised she has footage of somebody stealing and she knows how it is. Deputy arrived on scene to patrol the area and made no contact with her. Deputy went inside to investigate. This is under investigation.
- Deputy responded to a theft not in progress call. Caller advised this truck was broken into and he needed an officer out here to assist him. Deputy arrived on scene to investigate. Deputy advised he was going to the scene of the theft to patrol the area. While deputies patrolled the area for the theft, they ran into a suspicious vehicle. Deputies ran all occupants in the vehicle and one of the occupants had a warrant out of Crockett County. Deputies brought him to the Benton County Jail.
Camden Area
- Deputy and THP responded to a road hazard. Caller advised there were kids in the middle of the roadway and there was a vehicle blocking the roadway. Deputies and THP arrived on scene and advised there was 1 lane blocked off and everybody was ok. THP worked the scene.
- Deputies and Animal Control responded to an animal complaint. Deputies and Animal Control arrived on scene and advised that there was a dog limping who looked hurt. Neighbor said it was possibly run over. Deputies continued to investigate.
- Deputy, THP and EMS responding to a 1 vehicle accident. Caller advised there was a vehicle who ran off into the ditch and who was thrown out of the window laying in the roadway. Deputy, EMS and THP arrived on scene. THP worked the wreck.
- Deputies responded to a 911 open line. Deputies arrived on scene and advised everything was ok, they accidentally dialed 911 and they did not need any emergency services.
- Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle call. Caller advised there were teenagers driving their four wheelers down the middle of the road and he was worried they were going to get hit by a car. Deputies arrived on scene and patrolled the area. They made no contact with any teenagers or four wheelers.
- Deputy responded to a vehicle in the middle of the roadway. Deputy arrived on scene and advised this vehicle was broken down. Deputy advised they were getting the vehicle back running and out of the roadway.

Saturday, October 5
Holladay/ Sugar Tree Area
- Nothing for this area.
Camden Area
- Deputies responded to a breaking and entering in progress. Caller advised her boyfriend had a gun and was trying to break into her home. Deputies arrived on scene and found the male hiding in the woods. Male subject had drugs on him and they found more drugs in the home. Male was detained and taken to Benton County Jail. DCS was called for the children in the home, and DCS took custody of them due to drugs in the home. Caller was also arrested and taken to Benton County Jail for drugs and child abuse.
- Deputy responded to a fraud call. Caller advised he was moving into a house today but the other people would not leave. The other people in the home were the homeowners. Deputy arrived on scene and advised that he was scammed out of money and this place was not up for rent/sale. Scam happened in the city so City Officers took over the investigation.
- Deputies and THP responded to a 2 vehicle accident with no injuries. Deputies and tHp arrived on scene and advised that 1 vehicle hit another vehicle that was parked on the side of the roadway. Driver was given FST’s and was taken to Benton County Jail on DUI.
- Deputies responded to shots heard call. Caller advised he heard gunshots near his driveway and he was concerned and wanted a deputy to patrol the area. Deputies arrived on scene and patrolled the area. Deputies did not hear any more gun shots and made no contact with any people/vehicles.
- Deputy performed a traffic stop for failure to maintain. Deputies advised the driver smelled like alcohol and FST’s were done. Driver was arrested for DUI.

Sunday, October 6
Holladay/ Sugar Tree Area
- Nothing to report for this area.
Camden Area
- Deputies responded to a reckless driver call. Caller advised the vehicle was over the roadway. Deputies arrived on scene and patrolled the area. They made no contact with any reckless drivers or vehicles matching the description given.
- Deputy responded to a call about a father wanting to evict his son. Deputy arrived on scene and the son started making suicidal threats. Deputy advised the son calmed down and everything was ok.
- Deputies responded to a neighbor problem. Caller advised they were having issues and she didn’t know what to do. Deputies arrived on sceen and separated the parties. Advised both parties of their legal options.
- Deputies responded to a 911 open line. Deputies arrived on scene and advised the caller that everything was ok. They did not need any emergency services.
- Deputies stopped a person walking down the roadway acting suspicious.Deputies advised she had drugs on her and she was taken to the Benton County Jail.

- Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in progress call. Caller advised her boyfriend was trying to take things out of her home and would not leave the house. Deputies arrived on scene and advised the male subject to leave. Caller did not want to press any charges.

Monday, October 7
HOLLADAY / SUGAR TREE AREA
- Deputy, THP and EMS responded to the report of two-vehicle accident-injuries on I-40 near MM 130. THP took the report.
- Deputies, EMS and coroner responded to the report of a deceased person. Deputy advised that the family’s funeral home preference now has the deceased.
- Deputies responded to the report of a wanted subject at the Holladay Dollar General. The complainant reported that a male subject with an active local warrant for theft As deputies arrived on-scene, the subject was leaving in a pickup truck traveling southbound. Deputies performed a traffic stop and made contact with the male subject. Brady Smith Jr arrested for theft of property-conduct involving merchandise.
CAMDEN AREA
- Deputy responded to the report of harassment. The complainant reported that a female patron was harassing and verbally assaulting the complainant. The complainant reported the subject was not on-scene at the time of the report. Deputy spoke with the complainant and advised a report was taken and the female was to be trespassed.
- Deputy checked out on Divider & Natchez Trace Rd with subjects on foot in the area. attempting to make contact with a wanted subject. Deputy advised contact was made with a female subject with an active local warrant. Deputy advised the female attempted to run. Deputy detained the female and requested an additional unit to his location. Deputy advised drugs were also recovered. Cheyanne Lee Carstarphen was arrested for capias failure to appear, fabricating/tampering with evidence, simple possession sch II meth, evading arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia uses and activities, and simple possession/casual exchange.
- Deputy responded to the report of a single-vehicle accident-no injuries. The complainant reported that a vehicle ran off the roadway into a ditch. Deputy took the report and issued a citation for two traffic offenses.
- Deputy responded to the report of breaking & entering-not in progress. The complainant reported that they came home from work and it appears someone had broken into the residence. Deputy advised no signs of forced entry . Deputy took the report and advised to have the address put on special patrol.

BIG SANDY AREA
- Deputy responded to the report of an animal complainant. The complainant advised that a neighbor’s pigs were on the complainant’s property. The complainant reported that it has happened numerous times. Deputy made contact with the pigs’ owner and advised the owner to keep the pigs in a pen or the owner will receive a citation.
- Deputies and EMS responded to the report of a mental status change. The complainant reported that a female subject was being combative and experiencing a breakdown. The complainant reported that the female subject had a weapon in her possession. Additional calls were reported advising that the female had taken something from the property. Deputy advised that EMS checked the female but did not transport. Deputy advised that the female is now trespassed from the property.
- Deputies checked out at a residence attempting to make contact with a subject with an active local warrant. Deputy arrested Brian O’Neil Tolley for disorderly conduct.
ARRESTS
- 4 arrests made; 3 as previously mentioned and Michael Jason Huguely arrested for failure to appear.
Tuesday, October 8
Holladay/ Sugar Tree Area
- Deputies responded to a business alarm going off. Deputies arrived on scene and found the side door unlocked. Deputies entered the business and sweeped the business. Nothing was found and the area was patrolled.
Camden Area
- Deputy responded to a domestic verbal in progress. Caller advised he was trying to grab items from his home and his wife would not let him. Deputies arrived and separated parties. Caller was able to gather his items from their home and leave.
- Deputy responded to a welfare check on a male subject. Caller advised she had not heard from this male subject in a month and she was worried about him. Deputy arrived on scene and made contact with him. Deputy advised he was ok and they updated the caller.
- Deputies were serving a warrant paper to a male subject. Drug paraphernalia was located and male was taken into the Benton County Jail.
- Deputies responded to a suspicious activity call. Caller advised that there was somebody in the business they owned and they wanted it checked out. Deputies arrived on scene and found a male subject inside. Owner of the business advised he could stay there for the night but needed to leave byu the morning.
- Deputies responded to a residential alarm. Caller advised she was not home and her alarm was going off. Deputies arrived on scene, secured the property and found nothing. Deputies then patrolled the area.
- Deputies responded to a domestic verbal in progress with a male subject who had a gun. Deputies arrived on scene and advised neither subject had a weapon at the time of arrival. Parties were separated and neither party wanted to press any charges.
- Deputies responded to a shots heard call. Caller advised that he heard shots being fired at the end of their driveway and were concerned. Deputies arrived on sceen and did not find anybody shooting guns, or hear anybody shooting guns. Deputies continued to patrol the area.

Big Sandy Area
- Deputies responded to a trespassing in progress call. Caller advised there was somebody in her shed outside. Caller advised she kicked the female subject out of her shed yesterday and she was back today. Deputies arrived on scene and found the female subject still there. deputies arrested her for trespassing and she was taken to the Benton County Jail.

- 1 male for failure to appear, 1 male for poss of sch 11, 1 female for trespassing
Wednesday, October 9
Holladay/ Sugar Tree Area
- Deputies, EMS and Coroner responded to a welfare check on am elderly man. Caller advised he found male subject not breathing in his bed. EMS and Deputies arrived on scene to assist. The coroner then arrived on scene to take male to Oakdale Funeral Home.
- Deputies responded to a residential alarm. Home Owners advised the motion detector for the basement was going off and they were not home. Deputies arrived on scene and found construction workers set it off. Deputies secured the residence.
- Deputies went out to an unwanted subject call. Caller was not home but advised she had cameras and could see people on her property in the driveway. Deputies arrived on scene and made no contact with anybody on the property. Deputies patrolled the area.
- Deputies and EMS responded to a shooting not in progress. Caller advised she was driving down the roadway and 2 people on a fourwheeler started shooting at her and her vehicle. Deputies and EMS arrived on scene. Deputies patrolled the area for subjects who were shooting and made no contact with them. This is currently being investigated.
Camden Area
- Deputies responded to a call about a child custody dispute. Grandmother has custody of the children and the mother wanted to pick them up. Deputies arrived on scene and advised the Grandmother had custody therefore it would be up to her if the mother could take the children. Deputies advised this will be a court dispute.

Big Sandy Area
- Deputies responded to a domestic physical in progress. Caller advised she was scared and her boyfriend hit her in the face and would not let her leave the home. Deputies arrived on scene and separated the parties. Male subject was taken to the Benton County Jail.

Thursday, October 10
Holladay/ Sugar Tree Area
- Deputies responded to an assault not in progress. Caller advised she witnessed an assault at a fast food restaurant where a female hit a worker. Deputies arrived on scene and advised this was actually not an assault, it was a verbal argument. Both parties have been separated and everything is ok.
Camden Area
- Deputies responded to a suspicious activity call. Caller advised there was and in the neighborhood looking suspicious. Deputies made scene and advised they did not make any contact with any vehicles or anything specious. But continued to patrol the area.
- Deputies responded to a 911 open line. Deputies arrived on scene and checked multiple homes without finding the matching phone number that called. Deputies patrolled the area for anybody who needed assistance and found nobody.
- Deputies responded to a suspicious activity call. Caller advised there were juveniles on four wheelers that were on her property and tapping on her windows. Deputies arrived on scene and advised they called the juvenile’s parents to come get them.
- Deputies responded to a medical alarm call. Got a call from the medical alarm company advising somebody in the residence had pushed their button. Deputies arrived on scene and everything was ok. She hit her alarm button by accident and was ok.
- Deputies were serving papers and the female subject was home. Female had warrants and was detained. On the way to the jail the female started passing out. EMS was called. Female subject refused medical care and was taken to the Benton County Jail.
- Deputies responded to a suspicious person call. Caller advised there was a man walking down the road and looked funny. Deputies arrived on scene and advised the male was highly intoxicated. Male was arrested for public intox and brought to Benton County Jail

- Deputy responded to a residential alarm call. Deputy arrived on scene and secured the residence. Deputy patrolled the area and made no contact with anybody in the area.

- 1 female shoplifting, 1 male for pub intox, 1 male for failure to appear, 1 female for DUI, 1 male for capias, 1 female for retaliation for past action.
