Lane College’s homecoming is happening October 12-19. The weeklong celebration is catered to students, as well as alumni, but also welcomes the community in a variety of events that take place on and around campus. October 18 will be the President’s Luncheon at 11:30 a.m.

This event benefits Lane College scholarships.

“On Friday we will have the President’s Luncheon, which will be held on the front lawn of Bray Hall on Lane Avenue,” said Darlette Samuels, VP for institutional advancement at Lane College.

The keynote speaker will be actor and producer Dr. Lamman Rucker, a Lane College alum who will also serve as the parade marshal this year.

“Alumni look forward to coming back, celebrating what they were used to in terms of their traditions but also celebrating the recent accomplishments of Lane College,” said Samuels.

The homecoming parade will be October 19 beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Other events include the homecoming coronation, Dr. J.L. Perry Memorial Golf Tournament, and the 2024 hall of fame, just to name a few. This year’s homecoming theme is ‘Dragons Forever.’

“Dragons Forever is all about family. It’s about the connection you have with Lane College,” said Samuels.

The big game will conclude the week when the dragons take on Central State at 2 p.m. at Lane Field, located at 310 North Hays Avenue.
