Firefighters battle vehicle fire in north Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — Firefighters rush to the scene of a late-afternoon fire involving a car.

Our WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News tipsters alerted us to a car on fire in the parking lot of a north Jackson business around 3:30 p.m.

Cell phone video provided to us shows the car engulfed in flames as fire crews prepare to put out the fire. When our crew arrived they found the fire was out and the car heavily damaged. The driver was able to escape without being injured.

He says he had recently purchased the car and believes issues with the transmission may have been the cause of the fire, which is being investigated.
