Health department kicks off ‘Fight Flu’ event in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department held their ‘Fight Flu’ event Tuesday.
Health departments across the state are administering free flu shots for this day. Fight Flu is an emergency preparedness exercise and gives employees the opportunity to practice a mass vaccination event.
This is a great time of year to get the flu shot which helps prevent the flu and the serious outcomes that can come with the flu.
“This is really a team effort today. A lot of staff are involved in this and it’s an exercise for us, but it’s also a great opportunity for the community to get a flu shot on their schedule and get protected before flu season really kicks off,” said Ginger Rowsey, public information officer for JMCRHD.
The annual flu vaccine is especially critical for those over 65, those with chronic conditions and young children.
