Individual on lawnmower fatally struck by train in Carroll County
UPDATE (10/16/24): A preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol identifies the lawnmower occupant as 40-year-old Maurice Woods. The report states Woods was attempting to cross the railroad tracks when the collision occurred. The report shows the incident took place near Highway 70 and Rosser Circle Road.
CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. — Officials confirm one person was killed in Carroll County after being struck by a train on Monday.
According to CSX, at approximately 5:19 p.m. on Oct. 14, a CSX train came in contact with an occupied lawnmower at a private crossing near Huntingdon. Emergency personnel quickly responded to the scene and reported that the individual’s injuries were fatal. There were no injuries to the crew of the train.
CSX says it extends its deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by this tragedy, and they will work on scene to support local law enforcement as they continue to investigate.
