One dead following head-on collision in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — One person is dead following a head-on collision Thursday morning.

Several WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Tipsters reached out to inform us of a wreck near the 2700 block of Harts Bridge Road in southeast Madison County.

Our crew arrived to find personnel from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office on the scene, where a white SUV was being loaded onto a tow truck.

We also observed what appeared to be a damaged dump truck blocking the road.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, they were notified of a two-vehicle wreck with injuries around 9:54 a.m.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Madison County Fire Department and EMS also responded to the scene and rendered first aid, however one of the drivers was determined to be dead at the scene.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, preliminary investigations indicate the crash was a head-on collision.

At this time, the identity of the deceased has not been confirmed.

A reconstructionist with the Sheriff’s Office is conducting a thorough investigation with assistance from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
