Gary Wayne Ligon
Gary Wayne Ligon, age 79 of Jackson, passed away on October 17, 2024 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN.
Gary was born on December 26, 1944, in Old Hickory, TN, to the late William and Leona Ligon. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked as the county accountant for Madison County Government for over 30 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Barbara, in 2022.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Kristie Tims, and her husband Larry; sister, Judy Murray; grandchildren, Alicia Grant, Zachary Tims, and Anna Tims; and great-granddaughters, Oaklee and Jovie Grant.
Gary’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN, for their kindness and care in recent months.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Gary Ligon will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Browns Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons from 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m, an hour and a half prior to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN.
