1942 – 2024
Kennie Lee German, Jr., age 82, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of Ann
Harris German, departed this life Wednesday morning, October 16, 2024 at his home.
Kennie was born October 8, 1942 in Somerville, the son of the late Kennie Lee German,
Sr. and Dessie Margaret Cook German. He graduated from Fayette County High School
and was employed at Somerville Light, Gas & Water Department for 33 years, starting
as a lineman and working his way up to being superintendent before his retirement.
Kennie was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Moscow, Tennessee and
was a charter member of Fayette County Rod & Gun Club that began in 1973 where he
was a past president and was currently the vice-president. He was a member of the
Somerville Masonic Lodge and an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. German is survived by his wife, Ann Harris German; his daughter, Melissa Cannon
(Randy); his son, Alan German (Beverly); two sisters, Peggy Howell and Debbie Porter
(Clay); his brother, Bobby German (Suzie); four grandchildren, Brittany Snodgrass
(Anthony), Abbey Gail Kruzan (Hayes), Kacey Cannon and Maggie Haynes (Drew); and
three great-grandchildren, Owen Lee Hamilton, Allie Rae Hamilton and Conner Alan
Snodgrass with one great-grandson on the way, Tripp Haynes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his first wife, Patricia German and his
sister, Cindy Rayburn.
A visitation for Mr. German will be from 1 to 2 P.M. Sunday, October 20, 2024 at the
Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Sunday,
October 20, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. The officiants will be
Pastor Mark Duggin and David Smith. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jerry Russell, Joe Yager, Randy Cannon,
Drew Haynes, Anthony Snodgrass and Hayes Kruzan. Honorary pallbearers will be
Jimmy Hoskins, David Smith and Joe Houston.
