Union University kicks off annual Buster Bowl

JACKSON, Tenn. — One local university goes head-to-head on the field.

The annual Buster Bowl kicked off Tuesday evening at Liberty Tech High School in Jackson.

The big game puts students, faculty, staff and alumni from Union University into 2 teams where they compete in a football game. Competitors were grouped into 2 teams: The Cardinal and The Cream.

The event began with their tailgate, where Union organizations could compete for homecoming points.

“So, it’s great to see coordination between students, faculty and even some alumni being able to come together and play. A lot of which these guy haven’t ever played before so this gives them an opportunity to be able to play a game they watch all the time and just good friendly competition between students here with the school,” said Jake Doster, regional coordinator for alumni football.

The tailgate was held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. this evening and was sponsored by the Union sophomore class council.
