Veteran organization supports Hurricane Helene efforts
SWANNANOA, NC — Adam Smith rescued his daughter from the floods of Hurricane Helene with a helicopter and is now leading relief operations to help rescue civilians and get supplies to critical areas affected by Hurricane Helene in Swannanoa, North Carolina. His organization Savage Freedoms aims to bring hope and light into the community.
A group of special operations veterans, from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines are no longer overseas but instead in western North Carolina protecting American lives at home from one family living in a tent trying not to freeze all the way to entire towns, they are meeting every need to keep people alive with hope for another day.
“It’s absolutely spectacular what the local community has done. All we’ve done.. We’ve just been able to create connections between those who want to help and those who need the help and that’s been the piece,” said Adam Smith,” founder of Savage Freedoms Defense.
These talented individuals have come together with other private organizations, both businesses and nonprofits, community leaders, churches, local, state, and federal government groups, including national guard, air guard, and military units.
Making connections and enabling people to better help each other has been a huge part of the effectiveness of the operation.
