Weekend shooting suspect identified, police seek information leading to his arrest
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE JACKSON POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Jackson, TN – Officers with the Jackson Police Department are investigating a shooting that took place on Sunday morning, October 20, 2024, around 1:20 a.m.
The incident occurred at a party held at the Picture Perfect Event Center, located at 2310 North Highland Avenue. A total of nine people were shot, resulting in one fatality. The victim who died from her injuries was 25-year-old Lar’Curia Roberson.
The suspect in the shooting has been identified as 22-year-old Matthew Berry. He has been charged with First Degree Felony Murder and Attempted Second Degree Murder.
Berry is currently at large, and anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the Jackson Police Department at 731-425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 731-424-8477. This investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be forthcoming.
Despite initial challenges due to limited information and tips on the night of the incident, with the cooperation of the public through Crime Stoppers tips, investigators were able to identify and charge Berry. We appreciate the information received from the community and concerned citizens who stepped forward.
