JPD swears in 8 new officers, 1 cadet during ceremony

JACKSON, Tenn. — An important swearing-in ceremony was held Monday at the Jackson Police Department.

The event welcomed eight newly hired Jackson Police Department officers and one police cadet apprentice.

Tyasia Green, a Jackson native, shares that this ceremony means a lot to her, and that her family and friends were able to be present to cheer her on. Green did her internship with the Jackson Police Department over the summer working with domestic investigations.

“I learned they were more hands on, not just getting out looking for people, but caring for their victims and the individuals as well. That touched me because it’s like you get to care for people and people get to see why you do your job, and why you love your job,” said Green.

Officer Green was inspired to pursue this career by her role as a resident assistant in university because it showcased her desire to help others.
