Leaf pick-up season to return soon in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson has announced the 5th season of their city-wide leaf pick-up.
The season starts Monday, November 4 and lasts through Friday, March 14. The leaf pick up process works by assigning crews to each of the four pick up districts in the city. Crews start at one end of their district and sweep in its entirety before starting over.
Jackson residents don’t have to request leaf pick up during the season due to the new sweep-thru method.
Leaves must be raked into piles within four feet of the street.
“Get your leaves as close as you can get them to the curb. Without putting sticks, bricks, anything in them, brush at all. It’ll make it easy for us to get ’em up. When you separate that, it’s an easy process. When you put it together, we have to come back after you separate it, so you might as well go ahead and do it the first time right,” said Percy Jones, City of Jackson’s Street Department director.
