A Mostly Dry Weekend Ahead Of Rain For Election Day

Thursday Evening Update

Thursday Night Update:

The storms moved out just ahead of Halloween evening as expected and we’ll now turn towards a drier and cooler night ahead with lows dropping into the lower to mid 50s. Winds will be from the north around 5 to 10 mph and we’ll likely have a few breaks in the clouds late tonight which could allow some isolated areas to get a little cooler.

The cold front will pass through the area and stall out just to our south. It will lift back northward slightly by Friday morning and could bring a few isolated showers Friday morning but the tomorrow afternoon and evening look dry and cool.

A slight rain chance will come back in the picture for Saturday but most of the weekend looks dry. We’ll  be in the lower 70s for tomorrow and the upper 70s on Saturday to around 80 on Sunday. Our next cold front will move our way Monday night and bring in another healthy rain chance for Election Day. A few thunder rumbles will also be possible so we’ll want to take the umbrella when going out to vote.

The rain on Election Day could be heavy at times and again some periods of thunderstorms in the mix. Right now it looks like there could be another low end severe threat just to our west on Election Day but like the last system, should weaken some as it moves through west Tennessee. The time of day that it will be approaching will also make a difference in that it will be moving our way towards the morning again at a time of day with less energy to work with.

Final Thoughts: We are heading into the secondary severe weather season for west Tennessee and we usually get some short lived spikes in warm weather followed by much cooler weather. The transition between the two usually isn’t peaceful this time year. As storms develop over the next few weeks, we’ll want to not fear and panic, but stay weather aware and keep up with the latest forecasts.

**Also, Don’t forget to wind the clock back on Saturday night as we’ll “Fall Back” an hour at 2 am Sunday morning gaining an extra hour of sleep**
