Several events to honor Veterans Day in West Tennessee
JACKSON, Tenn. — It’s time to honor and celebrate those who served: Veterans Day is coming up on Monday, November 11.
Several West Tennessee communities will mark the occasion with special events open to the public.
Madison County
In Jackson, events will kick off early, beginning with a Veterans Day program at Englewood Baptist Church (2239 N. Highland Ave) at 6:30 p.m. on November 8. Keynote speaker will be Sherry Pickering, Veteran Outreach Coordinator for TN Veterans Services.
Also on November 8, Jackson Madison Veterans Services will be hosting a Veteran’s Outreach program from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 311 North Parkway. All veterans are encouraged to attend.
The following day, November 9, the annual Veterans Day parade will roll through downtown Jackson beginning at 11 a.m. Parade Marshalls will be members of the Capt. Jack Holland Detachment Marine Corps Leafue. Those interested in pre-registering for the parade can call (423) 341-3330 for more information. A prize will be awarded to the best decorated veteran’s vehicle.

On Veterans Day, November 11, Bridges of Honor will take place from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Various local groups will be standing on bridges over I-40, waving flags and banners to honor our veterans.
Also on Veterans Day, West Tennessee Healthcare will honor veterans at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Events begin at 7:50 a.m. with an explanation of colors at Patient Discharge, a raising of the flag at 8 a.m., and a Veterans Day program at 8:10 in the JW Barnes Conference Center.
Additionally, the “Faces of our Veterans” display will be up in the Jackson City Hall lobby from November 10-19. The public is encouraged to stop in during normal business hours to view the portraits.
Hardin County
In Savannah, a veterans ceremony will be held on November 9 beginning at 9 a.m. It will take place at the Hardin County Courthouse square, including a wreath ceremony and a procession to Hardin County Veterans Memorial Park.
Chester County
On November 11, beginning at 11 a.m. in the council chambers at Henderson City Hall, American Legion Davidson-Haltom Post 157 in Henderson will host a celebration honoring veterans. The public is encouraged to attend the one-hour ceremony titled “Honoring Those Who Waited.”
Henderson County
On November 8, beginning at 11 a.m., a Veterans Day program will take place at the State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads.
Gibson County
In Humboldt, the annual Veteran’s Day parade will begin on Main Street at 10 a.m. on November 8. Following the parade, a program will be held at Magnolia Manor and Chapel, followed by a ceremony and helicopter static display at Barker Memorial Stadium football field from 1-2:30 p.m.
Crockett County
A Veterans Day program will take place on November 11. It will be held at the Crockett County Courthouse lawn beginning at 1 p.m.
