Kirkin of the Tartans returns to First Presbyterian Church
JACKSON, Tenn.—A unique service of remembrance is held at a local church.
The Kirkin of the Tartans service returned to First Presbyterian Church.
The annual service was held at 9:30 this morning at the church located at 1537 North Highland Avenue in Jackson.
The event continues the tradition of celebrating Scottish heritage within the church.
As part of the service, members of the congregation present their family tartans before the altar to be blessed.
The event continues annually in remembrance of their Scottish ancestors.
“It’s a time when we remember the heritage of the Presbyterian Church and when we give thanks for those who have gone before us and through whom God has worked to lay a firm foundation for those who follow,” said John White, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson.
The Kirkin of the Tartans has been a tradition for over twenty years at the First Presbyterian Church.
