JSCC nursing students receive hands-on experience during mock disaster
JACKSON, Tenn. — Local students are learning how to provide medical care in various environments and situations.
Jackson State Community College’s senior nursing class participated in a mock disaster.
On the softball field of JSCC, students acted out an active shooter scenario. Students were in the role of first responders, victims and bystanders.
“I have a lot of respect for all of the people that volunteered their time and our instructors. It’s really cool to do something fun since we’re almost done and put everything we’ve learned to the test. Critical thinking skills and everything else, so I’m really looking forward to it,” said Hannah Parker, senior at JSCC.
The Jackson Police Department and emergency personnel were active participants in the drill.
