Man arrested after Madison County juvenile found safe

JACKSON, Tenn. — 12-year-old Sophi Halsey was reported missing on Sunday, November 3.

Since then, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office released a statement that Halsey was safely recovered.

Through the investigative efforts of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation  Division, in collaboration with the Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team (CARD),  Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Jackson  office, and Jackson Police Department, they were able to identify the suspect.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was identified as 35-year-old Michael Holland from Columbia, South Carolina. Later on the evening of November 3, officers coordinated with law enforcement agencies out of South Carolina who were able to successfully locate Holland and Halsey.

Halsey was safely recovered and Holland was taken into custody. Holland is currently being detained in South Carolina pending extradition to Madison County. Holland faces initial charges of especially aggravated kidnapping, harboring a runaway and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The sheriff’s office stated that they thank the TBI, the Jackson Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team and South Carolina for their assistance in the safe return of Halsey.
