2024 Election: Democratic watch party in the Hub City

JACKSON, Tenn. — Election night is in full swing and the Democratic Party kicked off their night with a watch party here in the Hub City.

The race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump is near the end as election night is underway.

At the Democratic election watch party, you could feel the excitement from the crowd as they awaited the results for the 2024 presidential election. A few of the key battleground swing states both candidates are focusing on is Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Georgia residents tell us who they’re expecting to win tonight.

“We need a president that has the people at heart and I think that, that is Kamala Harris. So, I’m looking for God to bless us with a big win a landslide,” said Peaches Nesbitt, Tennessee voter.

Organizers of the event tell us part of the mission in America to prosperity is to foster a sense of community and to engage citizens in civics.

“I think the biggest thing that’s going through my mind is: ‘Does America believe in democracy? Does America believe in women?’ And those are the two biggest issues that I am thinking about tonight. Let’s go democracy, come on we can do this! Let’s go democracy, come on we can do this!” said Jo Tropiano, Tennessee voter.

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will need at least 270 electoral votes to win the election.
