Suspect identified in officer-involved shooting
HARDEMAN COUNTY, Tenn. — In a follow up, more information has been released regarding an officer-involved shooting that occurred Monday.
On November 4, around 1:20 p.m., the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Department dispatch received a shooting call off Highway 18 in Hardeman near the Madison County line. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed that the incident started as a domestic situation in which two women were shot at the initial location.
One woman was taken to Regional One Hospital in Memphis, while the other was transported to a hospital in Jackson for treatment.
Following the shooting, the deceased suspect identified as Bryson Kirk, fled the scene with an infant in the vehicle, leading to a pursuit and an exchange of gunfire with a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper.
The investigation which remains active and ongoing will determine whether Kirk died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound or was struck by the troopers gunfire.
The TBI does not identify the officers involved in these types of incidents and instead refers questions of that nature to the respective department to answer as it sees fit.
