Jackson Arts Council awards 6 creative support grants

JACKSON, Tenn. — Six individuals have been picked to help bring more creativity to the Hub City.

The Jackson Arts Council gave out creative support grants to help support local artists express their creativity.

There were six lucky artists who applied and they were given $1,500 grants. These include Bill Marable with literature, Alice Hardin with music and Noah Stewart with photography. Belinda Patterson, Stephany Willbourn, and Hattie Duncan were all given grants for visual arts.

“[Artists can] use this grant money for anything as long as it is to support the work that they do and to help them to develop and to grow their career as an artist,” said Dr. Delita Johnson, Executive Director for the Jackson Arts Council.

Johnson also said there will be another chance to receive creative support grants in the future.
