1935 – 2024
Jimmie Earl Lacy, age 89, resident of Walls, Mississippi and husband of the late
Glenda “Sue” Jeanes Lacy, departed this life Monday morning, November 11,
2024 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tennessee.
Jimmie was born September 9, 1935 in Texarkana, Arkansas, the son of the late
Otto Earl Lacy and Mary Olive Lacy. He served his country in the United States
Marine Corps during the Korean War and at the age of 17 was a Korean Prisoner
of War. He was married November 10, 1952 to Glenda “Sue” Jeanes Lacy who
preceded him in death. Jimmie was a truck driver for the Teamster Union Local
667 for over 40 years and was a member of Gracewood Baptist Church in
Southaven, Mississippi. He enjoyed family cookouts, gardening and yardwork
and built his own greenhouses.
Mr. Lacy is survived by three sons, Jimmie R. Lacy (Cindy) of Rossville, TN,
Terry L. Lacy of Walls, MS and Michael G. Lacy (Michelle) of Olive Branch, MS;
his sister, Mary Lou Kovsky (Michael) of Germantown, TN; six grandchildren,
Amy Cox (Keith) of Sturgis, MS, Tilea Terry (Chad) of Oxford, MS, Andy Lacy
(Julianne) of Moscow, TN, Jimmie Lacy, Jr. (Eveline) of Moscow, TN, Meghan
Earnest (Justin) of Byhalia, MS and Matthew Lacy of Olive Branch, MS; nineteen
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother,
Gerald Lacy and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Lacy.
A visitation for Mr. Lacy will be from 11:30 A.M. to 1 P.M. Friday, November 15,
2024 at Gracewood Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be at 1 P.M. Friday,
November 15, 2024 at Gracewood Baptist Church with Andy Price and Fred
Tubbs officiating. A private interment will follow.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Andy Lacy, Jimmie Lacy, Jr.,
Matthew Lacy, Jordan Bright, Dawson Lacy and Nate Lacy. Honorary pallbearers
will be Jack Lacy, German Hernandez, Derek Lizarraga and Dominick Lizarraga.
