Felon sentenced to 14 years following 2023 aggravated robbery in Jackson

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF DISTRICT ATTORNEY GENERAL JODY PICKENS:

Violent Felon Sentenced to 14 years for Aggravated Robbery, Firearm Possession

On Monday, April 24, 2023, Jackson Police Department dispatched officers to the area of River Oaks Drive where a woman reported she had just been robbed at gunpoint. The victim advised officers on the scene that Brandon Lee Eatmon, age 31, of Jackson, Tennessee, picked her up from work and was supposed to be taking her home in his vehicle. However, when Eatmon pulled up to the intersection of Miller Avenue and River Oaks Drive, he stopped the vehicle and brandished a black handgun. Eatmon said, I’m going to hell for this, pointed the firearm at her, and robbed her of money and other valuable property

Officers put out a description of Eatmon and his vehicle over the radio, and they quickly located him at the Jackson Hotel and Convention Center and arrested him. When officers took Eatmon into custody, he was still in possession of the victim’s stolen property as well as a handgun. At the time of the offense, Eatmon had prior felony convictions for Attempted Aggravated Robbery in 2011, Theft $1,000 10,000 in 2012, and two convictions in 2015 for being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm

On October 2, 2023, a Madison County Grand Jury indicted Brandon Eatmon for Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault, being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Schedule I Drug

On November 4, 2024, Eatmon pleaded guilty to each count of the indictment and received a sentence of fourteen (14) years to serve in the Tennessee Department of Correction. By law, he must serve at least 85% of that sentence before he first becomes eligible for parole. Assistant District Attorney General Bradley Champine prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of Tennessee

Despite multiple chances to change his life, Mr. Eatmon sadly chose to continue to live a criminal, antisocial lifestyle. This latest series of choices will cost him dearly, said District Attorney General Jody Pickens. This incident occurred not long after he was released from prison. It will be many years before he gets another chance to commit such crimes against lawabiding citizens. My office appreciates the work of the patrol officers in the Jackson Police Department who, because of their quick response in this case, were able to arrest the defendant while he was still in possession of the victim’s stolen property and the firearm that he used to commit the robbery. Their actions protected the community from a violent felon and equipped us with strong evidence to aggressively prosecute the Defendant.”
